OSDx (Open SDx) is a network operating system based on Debian GNU/Linux.

OSDx can be run on standard amd64/x86 systems and in proprietary arm64 and armhf devices. It can be used as a router and a firewall platform.

OSDx includes many features, such as:

  • IDS (Intrusion Detection System) and IPS (Intrusion Prevention System) firewall services.

  • Support for numerous networking protocols: DHCP, DNS, SSH, Telnet, Netflow, etc.

  • Support for different routing protocols: NAT, BGP, RIP, OSPF, etc.

  • Several types of interfaces, such as Ethernet, VLAN, WLAN, VTI, Bonding (802.3ad), Bridge, etc.

  • QoS (Quality of Service).

  • Multiple login mechanisms: RADIUS (Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service) and traditional authentication mechanisms.

  • IPsec support (encapsulation, authentication and encryption).

  • PKI support (CSR, CRL, x509 certificates, etc.).

  • Network ACLs (Access Control Lists) and PBR (Policy-based Routing).

  • NIC offloading.

  • A wide range of monitoring tools.
